Dear Friends and Supporters,
WARE REACHING OUT WITH A HEARTFELT REQUEST to support a community beading class that we believe will have a lasting impact on our people. Beadwork is more than art. It is therapy. It is culture. It is teaching, storytelling, and healing passed down through generations. In our communities, beadwork has always been a way to reconnect—to ourselves, to our ancestors, and to one another.
We are organizing a beading class for 12 participants, each receiving a complete beadwork kit. The cost is $98.50 per kit, for a total of $1,182. These kits will allow participants to fully engage in the learning process without financial barriers.
- A healing and therapeutic space rooted in Indigenous culture
- Cultural education and storytelling through traditional beadwork
- Hands-on skill building and creative expression
- An introduction to small business opportunities through beadwork
- Basic guidance on marketing and selling handmade items for income
For many participants, this class will be a first step toward economic independence—turning cultural knowledge into sustainable income while preserving tradition.

Letter of Support – Education Is Liberation
TLAKOTA LOCKUP PROJECT IS SEEKING SUPPORT support to raise $1,229.50 to fund paralegal studies for a Native individual who is currently incarcerated and committed to helping others inside the system understand the law.
Inside the system, over 90% of incarcerated people must represent themselves in legal matters. Native people are incarcerated at disproportionate rates and face some of the greatest barriers to legal knowledge, legal resources, and meaningful support. For many, navigating the legal system without education or assistance results in lost rights, missed deadlines, and denied access to justice.
This educational opportunity is not for personal gain. It is for community care and justice inside the system.
With paralegal training, one individual can help others:
- Understand their legal rights
- Read and respond to court documents
- Prepare motions and legal filings
- Advocate for themselves with dignity
The requested amount of $1,229.50 covers the full cost of paralegal studies. This single investment will have a lasting impact, empowering one person to support many others who would otherwise have no guidance at all. The Lakota Lockup Project is Native-led, grassroots, and justice-driven. Our work centers on empowerment, education, and healing for those most harmed by the criminal legal system. We ask you to please consider donating, sharing, and standing with the Lakota Lockup Project in this effort.
